8 juin 2009 REVIEWS! SWEETHEART SEBASTIAN. Nothing beats French punk. I was sold from the first note of this Quebecois garage-rock band's CD. Just under 25 minutes of hooky, jeans-and-t-shirts punk rock, the sludgy, lo-fi French vocals take a few listens to make out and then don't require much more than an elementary French class vocabulary to understand. Sweetheart Sebastian is packed with energetic, infectious pop punk. Though straddling a line between punk and cute, they manage to come off more punk than sweet. Fans of The Stolen Minks, Ramones and fellow Montrealers Les Breastfeeders, seek this out. The Coast, Halifax, May 28, 2009
The more I listen to the Scutches' self-titled record, the more I love it. They mix their punk with '60s pop rather than the typical bubblegum, resulting in smooth, chill and highly addictive light beats. They describe themselves as sounding like "summer," which is just as accurate as saying they're the love children of a threesome between Joey Ramone, Buddy Holly and Brian Wilson. If you're looking for an album to play from a boom box while blazing at a beach party, then stop your search.

Even better, this year's edition has the best lineup ever. We'll have the chance to meet some of our heroes, some of the people that made us pick a guitar and make records. Have you ever dreamed of seeing The Apers, Beatnik Termites, The Guts, The Methadones, Pansy Division, Boris the Sprinkler, The Copyrights, Dillinger 4, Kepi Ghoulie, Leftovers, Parasites, Squirtgun, Steinways and Teen Idols, all on the same stage? Ouep, aussi incroyable que ca puisse paraitre, LE VOLUME ÉTAIT AU MAXIMUM fera son pélérinage cette année à la Mecque du punk rock, downtown Baltimore. L<3AM aura la chance de partager la scene avec entre autres, Beastie Boys, Coldplay, Rufus Wainwright, Arctic Monkeys et The Decemberists! For all of you pop lovers, L<3AM will share the stage with Beastie Boys, Coldplay and Rufus Wainwright this summer at the supa-cool Osheaga fest in Montreal...!
25 mars 2009 PUNK OR NOTHING ! No-frills, French-canadian, synth power pop. Who would have thought it would work, eh? But LE VOLUME ETAIT AU MAXIMUM have made a sound here that is completely their own. It is a very unique take on the power-pop/pop-punk genre that they manage to pull off very well. There isn’t really a band that is coming close to this sound right now.
So what is their sound? Well, think of the most upbeat music you can, and times that by twenty. Le Volume’ redefines the word fun. Poppy to the max, Les Vacances blasts out the synths like they’re going out fashion. The record is twenty tracks full and L<3AM inject the listener’s ear drums with pure, addictive adulation throughout.
